SS Piping vs Chiller Piping: Choosing the Right Industrial Line

Stainless steel, chilled water, HDPE or DI — each piping material has a job it does best. Here is a simple guide to matching pipe, pressure rating and insulation to your plant needs.

Picking the wrong pipe material is one of the most expensive mistakes in a plant or commercial project. Here is how Ovi Engineering matches the right pipe to the right duty.

Stainless steel (SS) piping

Best for clean water, pharma, food and chilled water lines where hygiene and corrosion resistance matter. We use SS 304 / SS 316 with TIG welding for leak-free joints.

Chilled / HVAC piping

For air-conditioning we install insulated chilled water lines — carrier pipe plus nitrile rubber insulation and cladding to stop condensation and energy loss.

HDPE and DI piping

HDPE suits corrosive chemicals and underground services because it will not rust. Ductile iron (DI) is the go-to for fire mains and heavy-duty water supply.

Quick comparison

  • SS 304/316 — hygiene + corrosion resistance
  • Chilled water — energy efficiency with proper insulation
  • HDPE — chemical and corrosion resistance
  • DI — strength for fire and bulk water lines
